Volunteer

Thank you for your interest. We are currently looking for the following volunteers:

Sunday Husbandry Volunteers

Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital is currently looking for Sunday volunteers to help with animal husbandry in our busy Hospital.

Volunteer placements are for one full day per week, as a regular commitment for a minimum of six months, or ideally on a long-term basis. Working day is 9am to 5pm.

The main tasks are hands-on husbandry of the thousand-plus wild animals currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at our Hospital – which means that you will spend your day cleaning cages and enclosures, preparing and providing food, with some (minimal) handling of a variety of wild species.

• Previous animal husbandry experience is preferable
• Volunteers must be over 18 and able to work independently
• You must have current tetanus cover (check with your GP) and no known allergies to animals or animal foodstuffs
• Tasks are very physical, so be prepared for working inside or outside, whatever the weather
• All volunteers are required to undergo a criminal records check before starting
• All volunteers are required to complete online safeguarding training

As a charity, Tiggywinkles cannot offer any financial support or help with expenses.

Please click here for an application form.

Rescuer

We are currently looking for volunteer rescuers in the following areas:
Anywhere in the area between Witney, Buckingham, and Wallingford, including Bicester, Oxford and Abingdon. Plus Chesham and Amersham.

Are you someone who fancies a challenge?

We need volunteer rescuers who are happy to rescue and transport sick and injured large animals and bring them to Tiggywinkles.

We will provide all the required training and equipment for you to rescue animals such as Swans, Foxes, Badgers and Deer.

You will need your own transport; a car with a large boot or small van is ideal.

Training is carried out on site here, covering the safe handling and transport of the different large species.

All volunteer Rescuers need to be over the
age of 21.

Ambulance Driver

We need kind caring people to go out and collect wildlife and transport it back to Tiggywinkles for emergency treatment.

These will usually be small animals such as hedgehogs and garden birds, that have been picked up by a member of the public who is unable to bring us the animal themselves.

You will need your own transport, and if possible your own pet carrier and gardening gloves. Training will be provided.

These animals are normally sick or injured and will need immediate treatment at Tiggywinkles, so ideally we need people who are available at all hours.

All volunteer Ambulance Drivers need to be over the age of 21.

Still interested?

Do you live in Aylesbury, Tring, Aston Clinton, Bierton, Buckingham, Waddesdon, Lower Winchendon and across Oxfordshire from Kidlington to Wallingford? Then we would be particularly interested to hear from you!
