Wildlife Keeper Experience

Please note: In the event that Government Covid restrictions mean that your Keeper Experience cannot go ahead, then tickets will be moved or refunded.


In addition to finding our more of what we do here, participants will have the chance to assist with:

  • Cleaning/maintenance of an enclosure
  • Food preparation for some of our patients
  • Preparing an enrichment activity for animals in one of our enclosures
  • Exercising one of our patients
  • Feeding some of our animals

Date & Venue

Dates: Experiences will be held on selected dates, from May to September - please see below.

All workshops & experiences will be held at Tiggywinkles, Aston Road, Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, HP17 8AF

Price Options: Adults (over 16’s) £125.00

There will be a maximum of 5 people on the keeper experience, tickets will be sold on a first come basis and must be paid in full at time of booking.

Important Information

Observers are not permitted to follow the delegate on their Keeper Experience, as we will be going behind the scenes for the vast majority of the Experience and only the paid delegates can enter this area.

Under 16s are not permitted to take part in the Experience under any circumstances.

Additional attendees may choose to pay to go into the Visitor Centre – but we strongly advise that you check it is open on that date before you arrive and whether you need to pre-book tickets. Please note: our Visitor Centre will be shut on Sundays for 2021, so no extra visitors will be able to attend with the booked Keeper.

As this experience has a hands-on element, please ensure you wear suitable outdoor clothing (you may want to check the weather forecast) and sturdy footwear. Long hair should be tied back and no jewellery or scarves please.

Please ensure you have an up to date tetanus injection, which your GP will be able to advise you about.

Tea and coffee will be provided in the short break.

10.20-10.50 Enclosure maintenance (cleaning)
10.50-11.20 Food preparation

11.30-12.00 Enrichment activities
12.00-12.30 Exercise & Physiotherapy
12.30-13.00 Feeding
13.00 Finish and hand out certificates.

Before you book: you must make sure you have an up to date tetanus vaccination and be over 16 by the date of your selected Keeper Experience. Other requirements: no known allergies to nuts, animal feed or latex.

Additional dates may be added if those listed become full.


We are offering limited places for people to get up close to some of the wildlife casualties that we are currently treating in our hospital. You will be able to get involved with all aspects of the life of our wildlife keepers – helping clean out, prepare food, feeding, exercising and making sure they are kept stimulated too. This is a practical experience – so be prepared to muck in. You will need to dress for the outdoors – whatever the weather!
