Corporate Volunteering with Tiggywinkles

Corporate volunteering days at Tiggywinkles are a great way to encourage and develop your employee’s team building and communication skills, whilst having fun and supporting a local charity. You will be helping us to continue our incredible life saving work in the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned British Wildlife.

Our corporate volunteer days are run from October – June and we have a minimum participant number of 8, and a maximum of 25 people. Spend a day away from the office, in our beautiful hospital grounds and visitor centre, helping us make a real difference.

How you help us

With over 10,000 casualties admitted to our hospital each year, our animal care teams are working around the clock to deliver the best possible care for the patients. An all hands-on deck approach is needed - and that’s where you can come in! With a 6-acre site comprising of deer paddocks, hedgehog gardens, bird aviaries and ponds, we rely on our corporate volunteer teams to help us out with the bigger jobs that we would otherwise struggle to get done. Teams of volunteers can undertake painting, gardening and general maintenance of our site and animal enclosures – all of which is vital to keep our hospital and Visitor Centre in good order, not only for the well-being of the animals, but also for the enjoyment of our visitors and any prospective sponsors.

Your help and support will have a direct impact on our hospital, allowing us to continue to help injured and orphaned wildlife. It is a huge task undertaken every day to clean and feed these animals and this all comes at a cost. As a charity, Tiggywinkles is completely reliant on voluntary income and so we would always very grateful for any voluntary financial contribution made by the corporate team. Any help would be much appreciated!

On the day

Corporate volunteer days are normally run on Fridays, 10am-4pm. You will be provided with all necessary training, equipment and PPE to use on the day, though most people prefer to bring along their own pair of work gloves. One of your team members will be designated the role of Team Leader, who will liaise with our staff and assist with coordinating your team with the tasks set out.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, and there is the option of pre-ordering lunch which will be prepared by our Visitor Centre (please ask for an order form on application if you think this may be of interest).

We like to finish up a hard day’s work with a guided tour of our hospital and back stage areas to show you first hand the life saving work that we do, and how your help and support can enable us to achieve this.

What to bring

As our patients are of a wild nature, we ask you to wear dark coloured clothing, generally old clothes you wouldn’t mind getting dirty! Sturdy footwear, walking boots or trainers, gardening/work gloves and a packed lunch (unless ordering with us), along with a reusable water bottle. Knowing what our delightful British weather is like, we suggest wet weather clothes, wellington boots, sun cream and a hat too…just in case!
