At Tiggywinkles we treat all species of British wildlife, from the tiniest shrew to the largest fallow deer, all receive the highest level of care. And now you could be helping to care for these sick and injured wild animals whilst also studying for a recognised qualification.

Course Content
As well as covering the care, health and husbandry of animals of a variety of species, the course also focuses on maintaining a safe working environment and relationships with colleagues and visitors. Making it a very good basis for working in an animal care environment.

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required as entry to the Apprenticeship course, although candidates must show a commitment to training.
You must be aged between 16 and 23 years and 8 months at the start of the course.

We are Europe’s only wildlife teaching hospital and as part of our commitment to training we are now taking students on the Apprenticeship in Animal Care.

The Apprenticeship course is made up of NVQ level 2 Animal Care plus Key skills level 1. It is a six-month, full-time training course, which gives you the opportunity to gain experience in a real working environment and gain a valuable qualification at a centre which will look great on your CV.

Each Apprenticeship student will spend most of their rota working in different areas of the Hospital plus time spent in the classroom learning the theory of the Animal Care course.
Assessments will be carried out on a regular basis using all available methods: observation, questions & answers and assignments.

This remarkable number has included hedgehogs, badgers, rabbits, deer, wild birds, even snakes and toads. Our doors are always open and our service is free of charge to the general public.
